Youth Scholarship Program
Each fall, the Josephine County Educational Fund (JCEF) solicits scholarship applications from local high schools. The Rotary clubs of Josephine County select a senior from each of five local high schools to receive a college scholarship. Participating high schools include all four Josephine County public high schools (Grants Pass High School, Hidden Valley High School, North Valley High School, and Illinois Valley High School), as well as the Interact group at Brighton Academy. Scholarships are based on scholastic achievement, community service, school activities, work experience, financial need, candidate’s embodiment of the Four Way Test, candidate goals, letters of recommendation, intuitive assessment, and an essay from the candidate relating to Rotary’s Four Way Test.
Each school has its own scholarship committee comprised of Rotarians. Award recipients are announced at the school spring awards banquets, and later at a meeting of The Rotary Club of Grants Pass.
Here are the 2021 recipients, who each received a $2500 scholarship:
-
- Grants Pass High School: Adam Gross
- Hidden Valley High School: Shaylee Cooper
- North Valley High School: Ariana Scott
- Illinois Valley High School: Annabella Eisner
Congratulations to this year’s recipients. And to local students who will be seniors next school year: be sure to apply for next years’ awards this fall!
